Shrivel Braittrand, a Kulless from planet Gerres Gule, moved from his home planet to seek employment as a race mechanic. He was hired by Boles Roor, glimmik singer and two-time winner of the Boonta Eve Classic. After Roor's loss in the Boonta race, he quit Podracing and gave his pod to Braittrand, who modified it into the Kulless Squall and embarked on a quite successful racing career. He was one of the few Podracing pilots not to meet his end during a race.
