The Gender Bender was a machine invented by the Androgenan women of Terra Androgena shortly before the conclusion of the Great Gender War. It allowed them to temporarily change their gender so as to continue perpetuating the species after all real men had been wiped out, and was forced upon the reluctant Stock caste. The effects sometimes wore off too early, which resulted in awkardness for both parties involved.
