David Miller was an Earthling, and the boyfriend of cheerleader Sandy Pantz. When she was kidnapped to Maniac Mansion by Dr. Fred Edison, he led a group of his friends to rescue her. Though well-liked for the most part, he was often referred to as a "tuna head".
